without expectation
Quick note: Here are the foundational posts for resources and experiments. Both I mention a few times during this voice note, and could be a helpful way to better acquaint yourself with the library.

I was on a walk earlier this evening with my husband. It’s been a cool day for a day in mid-June. The wind piercing through our sweatshirts while we pause in patches of sun that warm our faces.
These walks have become something of a routine. A way to talk and walk and move through difficult things together. Or to talk about nothing at all. I treasure this time and I know that the warmer it gets (and it will only get warmer), the later in the day we will walk, ever-determined to carve out this space just for us.
As I watched my feet and then the sky and then the rustling trees, I wondered why even make this library of personal oddities, especially when I have Freshly Squeezed, my newsletter and home to all of my long-form personal essays and works of short fiction.
But, I tell myself, I don’t have this. I don’t have somewhere that must be sought out with intention. A space without expectation (and I do love to drape every new pursuit in expectation). Something tucked away. Something that has you asking, ‘are we sure this is the right road?’—just as you round the corner and spot the crooked mailbox and the house nestled between two trees and the sign that says, ‘yes, you have arrived!’
So, voice notes…and yet, why am I writing so much? Well, in order for me decide what thought is going to be shared, I must first feel my way around the room, figuring out what’s missing, and what there might be too much of.
Think of this as the preface, an introduction of sorts. Just somewhere to say hello and begin.
Bye for now,
Chloe
